Collected This Week 🗂️ Vol. 18
Everything I've collected this week: familiar conviction, why Camp J.Crew is living rent-free in my brain, and the shower scarf that changed my life.
hello, hi!
I have to admit something. I’m having a really hard time finding motivation for anything other than my boys and making their summer special and fun and easy and outdoors and active and playful and delicious. I’m so in the mindset of leaning into the days - the yes’s and the no’s! Yes, we’d love to pop out to the beach with you today, on this sunny day! No, we aren’t overextending ourselves with plans so we can leave room for the impromptu post-dinner scooter rides to friends houses to drop-off servings of cowboy caviar and let our kids play in pajamas with popsicles! Everything else feels daunting and I need to just break down the wall in my mind so I have a teeny tiny bit of “balance” (balance, I heard that’s what they call it!). I’m busy over here spending exactly zero time in my email inbox or on Instagram and I don’t hate it. How are you feeling?
Now, a bit of what I’ve collected around the web and life this week. Lots of goodness today! x
Familiar Conviction.“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” - F.S. Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
I Finally Gave My Underwear Drawer a Refresh so I’m Feeling like the Adult that I am!!! Here’s what I’m wearing:
These best selling undies in white because I love white underwear against tanned summer skin
This set of thongs in “sand” because they are practical and cute and so soft to boot!
This no wire bra… I’ll tell you what, it’s so comfortable that I forget I’m wearing it
A Favorite Online Antique Shop. This might be counterintuitive so stick with me - I love an antique shop that gives us all the old but that has entered the modern era and has an online shop too. There’s something special, no doubt, about visiting an exquisite shop and having the in-person experience be the only possible touchpoint but I genuinely adore shopping antiques online too! I found some decor treasures from Gray Antiques the other day and realized I needed to share here. They are a great follow on Instagram too!
Camp Crew. I went from not really shopping at J.Crew for myself to shopping the brand so much that I feel like it’s 2010 again. Camp Crew is living rent free in my brain! Here’s what I ordered:
Drawstring shorts - so good I got them in red and blue + white gingham
Open-back dress - on sale!
Fish rollneck - it’s giving vintage J.Crew meets vintage Ralph Lauren
Boatneck stripe sweater - I got the red!
Stripe crochet bucket hat - 1994 called and wants its hat back and I’m so here for it!
Pull-on midi skirt - I got it in white, I recommend sizing down
Tea in London. God save the tea!
Everything Showers. In the summertime, there’s nothing I love more than ending the day with an über relaxing shower. My skin usually has some delicious combo of sweat, sunscreen, pool water, or sand on it and I relish the chance to come down from a full day with my kids. “Everything showers” are quite the rage right now so I wanted to share two things that make mine something I really look forward to.
Hydrating serum body wash - no body wash compares!
The shower scarf - do I sound crazy if I tell you that I went years without using wash clothes (and luffas freak me out). Then, I had a day when I couldn’t get a super intense sunscreen off my skin in the shower and I resorted to scrubbing away with a washcloth. My skin has NEVER BEEN SOFTER than after that shower. The Hanni shower scarf takes it to a whole new level. It’s divine.
A New-to-Me Brand I’m Loving. Paris Morris does a few things and does them really well. The pareos and the “totekins” are what drew me to the brand. You’ll see me carrying the camellia carryall this summer.
My Custom Phone Case. She’s so cute. She’s on sale for 5 days only. And, she comes in lots of colors.
Noteworthy with Nan. A huge congrats to Nan on the launch of her podcast, Noteworthy with Nan. The name of the game is diving into how women are actually living their lives, right now. It just so happens to be one of my favorite topics to discuss!
I Signed the Petition. Mudslides forever!
Mail Me a Mystery! A girlfriend taught me the best retort as a parent - if your child says “I’m bored,” respond with “don’t be boring!” Only boring people get bored. Maybe I was recounting this to someone, my phone heard me, and I got served an Instagram ad for Mail Order Mysteries for kids? Whatever the case may be, the concept is so fun so, you know, ads work and I’m here sharing! 6 envelopes over 6 weeks. Kids get to solve a mystery and beat boredom!
Sunday is the Woman I Want to Be. But, I’m swapping “Sunday” out for “summer.”
Luke Edward Hall’s London. My mom, sister, and I just booked a quick summer trip to London so I’m reading every little London guide I can get my hands on.
How to Keep Organized while on the Road this Summer. I have to say, these packing cubes are all kinds of cute.
Why is Tinned Fish so Chic? There’s just something about it. There is also perhaps no other niche in the food industry with better all around branding. Let’s not forget the health benefits too! I love Island Creek and Fishwife.
